Shirley Hartman, MD
Dr. Shirley Hartman combines the best of traditional medicine and science with acupuncture, nutrition, frequency specific microcurrent, kinesiology (muscle testing), and cranio-sacral therapy. Her openness to alternative medicine began in the 60’s and 70’s when her mother (an Iowa farm wife) studied metaphysics. Dr. Hartman majored in biochemistry and minored in nutrition at Iowa State University. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1982, and completed her residency in 1985. She was board certified in Family Practice in 1985, and was re-certified in 1991, 1998 and 2005. She received her acupuncture training in Jacksonville from 1985-1987. Acupuncture has remained an integral part of her practice since.
Dr. Hartman treats patients of all ages. She sees patients with a wide variety of problems often not recognized or well treated by traditional medicine. These include but are not limited to Lyme Disease, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, reflex sympathy dystrophy (RSD), food allergies and associated symptoms, adrenal insufficiency, irritable bowel syndrome, and depressive disorders; as well as a variety of other medical issues.
