Candida

Microscopic candida spores are carried in the air, landing on our skin and inhaled through our mouth and nose. Candida yeast lives on sugars in your gut and releases 79 toxins, one a neurotoxin called acetaldehyde. Could you have candida????

CANDIDA DIET- for 1-2 months: strict avoidance of sugar, which feeds candida and causes inflammation. Avoidance of fruits and fruit juices, which can contain mold. No artificial sweeteners, which can alter gut bacteria. Avoid yeast and mold-containing foods (most cheeses, especially Blue and Stilton are the worst), avoidance of alcohol-impairs detoxification linked to leaky gut. Avoid vinegars, non-organic dairy products and starchy carbohydrates. Avoid potatoes, soy, peanuts, processed meats, deli meats and processed foods, breads, and dried fruits.

What can you have to help eliminate candida and heal the gut? Leafy greens (steamed are gentle on the gut), avocado, tomatoes, zucchini, celery, cukes, broccoli, asparagus, eggplant, artichoke, grass fed beef, wild caught salmon, coconut oil, organic cold pressed olive oil, flax oil, Non-moldy nuts: almonds, flax seeds, hazelnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, walnuts. Fermented foods which are considered gut probiotics, like kimchi, kefir, yogurt, and sauerkraut. Tannins in tea kill off candida: choose chicory root, cinnamon, peppermint, ginger, licorice. Bone broths are anti-inflammatory and the strongest gut medicine. Choose coconut aminos in place of soy sauce. May have organic, raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Eat non-gluten grains: buckwheat, millet, oat bran, quinoa. Stevia and xylitol to replace sugar. Healing herbs and spices for cooking: oregano, ginger, cloves, basil, turmeric, dill, garlic, Himalayan salt, thyme, cinnamon, rosemary, black pepper. May have low sugar fruits, like berries and lemons, limes and grapefruits. Grain-free flours: almond and coconut, rice flour and non-GMO corn.
